St. Martin's Chapel

This is St. Martin's chapel in Český Krumlov. The chapel was consecrated in 1538, and was badly damaged by a severe windstorm in 1618. There were plans to rebuild the stone chapel, but the outbreak of the Thirty Years War meant that the town needed the stones intended for this rebuilding instead to help fortify its borders. The chapel was finally reconstructed in 1737, and its appearance has not changed since.
